doro introduces itself

Energy of the future

doro Turbinen GmbH was founded in 2017 with the aim of developing an environmentally friendly small hydropower turbine to gently tap previously untapped hydropower potential. The name doro stands for double rotation and describes the operating principle of the core technology. The idea to develop a turbine with a double rotation for the utilisation of small heads came to Josef Strein after he had worked for many years at a leading company in the field of hydropower. Since the foundation, there have been successes and also setbacks, as is so common in a start-up. Even the pandemic was not easy for the company. Despite the difficulties, Team doro has grown steadily and, with a financially strong investor, the first doro-C power plant was put into operation in early 2022. The prototype serves on the one hand as a research power plant to document the characteristics of the turbine and on the other hand as a show power plant for interested customers. In addition to Josef Strein, Gert Prügger, Manfred Egger, Thomas Suppan and Christian Tschabuschnig are part of the doro team.

All employees of doro Turbinen GmbH are also shareholders. Together with the investors, they are working to make energy affordable for everyone. And they are doing so with a focus on simple and sustainable technology for generating electricity from hydropower.
